From 20th December to 11th January the Science Museum will be introducing new contents related to the “Marvel Superheroes” exhibition, among other activities. The Oceanográfico (aquarium) is holding its first Christmas School at the end of December.

The City of Arts and Sciences has prepared a series of special activities to be held over the Christmas season. Specifically, the Science Museum will be providing new contents aimed above all at children, and will extend the timetable of some activities. Meanwhile, the Oceanográfico will be starting the first edition of its Christmas School, aimed at primary school children.

The Technological Toy Institute (AIJU) has provided 2,000 toy guides that will be handed out to the general public.

From 20th December to 11th January, the Science Museum has programmed different activities, some of which are related to the “Marvel Superheroes” exhibition. The little ones will be able to make their own comic, colour in their favourite superhero or paint their face like the Hulk, Spiderman, Storm or Mystique. They can also watch the animated film “Superheroes, Science or Fiction?” which will explain to them some basic concepts about genetics, as well as the physical principles related to some superheroes’ abilities such as invisibility, electromagnetism, or the formation of lightning bolts.

The virtual animation “Symphorus, the most curious superhero” puts a series of questions to the children. Then there is a zone of consoles in the “Marvel Superheroes” exhibition” where the children can play different computer games involving superheroes provided by the company Gamestop, and the opportunity for children up to 12 years old to enter the Science Museum for free if they dress up in a full superhero costume. These are a few of the options that the Museum is also offering.

Another of the activities being held will be the “Mathematics in your Christmas tree” workshop, where children can build multi-sided shapes (polyhedra) to decorate our Christmas tree. In addition, on Main Street, in cooperation with the Crecer Jugando (Grow Up Playing) Foundation and the Spanish Toy manufacturers’ Association, children from 6 to 12 years of age can enjoy playing with different educational toys. The Technological Toy Institute (AIJU) has provided 2,000 toy guides that will be handed out to the general public.

Furthermore, the Museum exhibitions will be host to a scientific wide game. The participants will be given a leaflet with 8 questions, and they must follow the clues around the museum. The winners will participate in a lottery with four passes for the CAC Club.
The Oceanográfico’s Christmas School

Following the success of the Summer School and Easter School editions, the City of Arts and Sciences’ Oceanográfico is starting up its first Christmas School, which will be held from 22nd to 26th December, except on 26th December, and from 29th December to 2nd January, except on 1st January. The main aim is to encourage new attitudes among the group and to learn through fun.

Over these days, about 160 children divided into age groups – one from 6 to 8 years old and another from 9 to 12 – will be able to enjoy activities related to the Christmas season and care and conservation of the marine environment. They will also be able to visit the Science Museum and see one of the Hemisfèric’s film shows. The children will always be accompanied by qualified staff.

Registration for the Christmas School begins on Monday, 17th November, and will end once the activity’s capacity is filled. Bookings can be made by calling the phone number 902 100 031.
