Flowers, fireworks and fire in Las Fallas

Among Europe’s biggest street parties, Las Fallas in Valencia is a pyromaniac’s paradise during which Valencia becomes a city of flaming effigies, fireworks, colourful parades and music.
Las Fallas is heading towards the end of the celebrations. Mascletaes (firecrackers), noise, music and revellers in their dazzling traditional dress will be filling every street of the city until tomorrow, 19th March, the day of San José.

Nou Campanar wins first prize for sixth year consecutive

The ‘Special Section’ of Valencia’s Fallas is made up of the 14 committees with the highest budgets, ranging from 120,000 to 900,000 euros and Nou Campanar Falla has been awarded first prize in this Section for the sixth consecutive year.
The Falla Committee chose the sculpture created by Julio Monterrubio with a budget of 900,000 euros. The winning monument is entitled ‘Esta falla… tiene mucha tela’ (This falla… is not an easy thing!), focusing on a humorous look at the fashion world with its stylised figures and pastel colours, from the …
