Valencia showground officially opened
The Global Champions Tour of Spain was officially opened in Valencia today by Dona Trinidad Miro, the city’s Minister for Culture and Sport. She was accompanied by Carlos Villarubi, the president of show organisers Oxer Sport and Cayetano Martinez de Irujo representing Jinete International showjumpers.
It is also expected the presence of Athina Onassis, Charlotte Casiragui, and Marta Ortega, who will be among the participants in the best world showjumping.
Greek Athina Onassis, daughter of Cristina Oassis and Spanish Marta Ortega, daughter of businessman Amancio Ortega, will compete with two horses, while the Monegasque Charlotte Casiragui, daughter of Caroline of Monaco, will compete with only one horse.
This is the first time that Valencia has hosted a Global Champions Tour event and the city has transformed the area around the glittering Museum of Arts and Science Complex into arenas and stabling. This involved draining two of the artificial lakes that surround the complex and a Toubin and Clement surface has been installed in their place. The actual jumping commences Friday.
