Four of the best vocalists of the time, including the daughter of Nina Simone, Lisa, offer today, July 14, a tribute to the great jazz and soul diva Nina Simone, on her sixth death anniversary.

The famous Dianne Reeves, winner of four Grammys (the latter for her participation in the George Clooney film, Good Night and Good Luck), one of the voices of the moment with more international projection, Lizz Wright, the powerful and prodigious throat Angelique Kidjo and finally Simone, the daughter of the great diva who dares with her mother’s repertoire that catapulted her to fame and is able to give these big hits a personal touch, the protagonists of this musical show “Sing the Truth” in the Valencia Jazz Festival at the Palau de la Música.

Temperamental artist, always brilliant, Nina Simone was known as the Great Priestess of Soul. The strength and passion that infuses her compositions, her voice breathless and use of the tremolo and intentionality of silences, always set a spiritual closeness and complicity with the listener. With a strong dramatic load, her voice could whisper, moan or scream, transmitting all the sensations that the human soul can experience.
