February
33rd America’s Cup / 8 – 12 February
Valencia was the venue of the 32nd America’s Cup and will repeat in the following edition. After two and a half year battle in court, the oldest sporting competition in the world, will come back to sea in 2010. The 33rd edition will start on 8 February in Valencia if the defending champion Alinghi from Switzerland, and the challenger, the American BMW Oracle Racing, do not continue with its legal war. The two contenders have already invested in the arms race about 430 million dollars to convert the America’s Cup in what has always been: a competition of the highest technological level.

Valencia Fashion Week VI / 2 – 4 February

Fallas 2009 / 15 – 19 March
An unrivalled street festival of noise, light and fire. It takes place in March and is intended as a tribute to St. Joseph, patron saint of the carpenters’ guild, where – it is said – the tradition arose from. The stars of the fiesta are the giant Disney-like ironic figures which are burnt on the final night. A whole week of stunning fireworks displays, mascletas, live music, flower offerings and a wealth of parallel events. Needless to say, this is the most unique and noisy fiesta on earth.

Global Champions Tour / 7 – 9 May
This second second Spanish Grand Prix of this tour will take place again in a unique setting: the City of Arts and Sciences, an emblematic architectural and cultural facility. The head of this project is Oxer Sport, the leading company in the organization of equestrian events in Spain. The world’s top 30 risers and 160 competition horses will take part in five events that will be covered by television stations in more than 60 countries.

Cinema Jove International Film Festival / 19 – 26 June
The Cinema Jove International Film Festival, considered as one of the most important film festivals held in Spain, has become a meeting point for young filmmakers from the all over the world. Valencia Open 500 2010 (ATP World Tour 500) / 31 October – 7 November
The Valencia Open 500 will be held in the new Agora building in the indoor and quick surface (on-wood acrylic) categories. The scenario selected for the competition is the emblematic City of Arts and Sciences. Sports, music and fashion will play an important role in this competition.
