BIOPARC celebrates Africa Day
BIOPARC Valencia continues its special events this weekend on 29 and 30 May to celebrate Africa Day with the collaboration of major NGOs.
The origin of this celebration goes back to May 25, 1963 when 32 leaders of African states met to form the Organization of African Unity. This day marked a date of great importance for the African continent and its people as it marked the beginning of its history as different countries, societies and cultures. As a result, May 25 has become the Day of Africa. This celebration refers to the achievements of the continent and invites to reflection on the challenges Africa is facingin the near future.
BIOPARC Valencia has always have an increasingly and a strong commitment to the African continent. From this perspective, it offers the possibility to meet some of Africa’s most wild habitats, but wants to go further, contributing to the spreading of its culture and, especially, needs and current situation. In this sense, wants to join in the commemoration activities on 29 and 30 May.
On this occasion BIOPARChas have the support of organizations and NGOs who are carrying out various projects on the continent. In a festive atmosphere and fun activities will take place this weekend with the aim of involving as many people, for the wider spreading of the message of cooperation and development in Africa. Different institutions will present their programs of action on the continent in the central boulevard at BIOPARC Valencia, which will become in an African Fair. Spanish Red Cross, Intermon Oxfam, Manos Unidas, Adena WWF, Globalmon, Ecosol, Mainel Foundation, Farmamundi, AHUIM, COESAFRI and Africa House will be there to celebrate this special day.
The activities and workshops will take place from 11h to 14h and 16h to 19h to facilitate participation and comfort of the greatest possible number of visitors.
