On 9 October 2011, Valencia celebrates two important dates in its history, the Region Of Valencia Day and Saint of the Community of Valencia and the Day of Saint Denis.
It was on 9 October 1238 that King James I of Aragon made his triumphal entry into Valencia. Days before the October 9, Muslims in the city of Valencia, had displayed the “senyal the king” (the “Real Senyera”, the Valencian Royal flag) on the walls of Valencia in surrender.

BIOPARC Valencia continues its special events this weekend on 29 and 30 May to celebrate Africa Day with the collaboration of major NGOs.
The origin of this celebration goes back to May 25, 1963 when 32 leaders of African states met to form the Organization of African Unity.
