Cirque du Soleil returns to Valencia

Unique thunderous rhythm in Valencia

“Las Fallas” wouldn’t be complete without “mascletaes”, which begin on 1st March and continue up to the end of the festivities on the 19th. At 2.00 o’clock each afternoon, Valencians and visitors gather in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to enjoy the vibrant explosions of more than 100 kg of gunpowder, set off within a five minute period and which create a unique, thunderous rhythm.

BMW ORACLE Racing wins the 33rd America’s Cup

BMW ORACLE Racing, the American challenger, representing the Golden Gate Yacht Club, won the 33rd America’s Cup Match on Sunday in Valencia, sweeping past the Swiss defender, Alinghi, to a 2-0 victory.
This was an historic race for the oldest trophy in international sport, featuring two of the most innovative boats on the planet. BMW ORACLE Racing’s trimaran, USA, powered by the largest wing sail ever built, proved to be the faster of the two multihulls, overpowering Alinghi’s catamaran in both races.

Finally, 33rd America’s Cup starts

It could be third time lucky for Race 1 of this 33rd America’s Cup.
There is an air of promise prevailing around the bases this morning as the overnight strong wind appear to have dropped away.

Next Saturday …MTV Winter 2010

MTV Winter Festival will be on Saturday at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia with a lineup headed by the British band Arctic Monkeys and the most advanced audiovisual technology to offer a high quality performance.

“Las Fallas” are just around the corner

One again Valencia is immersed in the preparations for its most international festivity: “Las Fallas”. From 15th to 19th March, the city is transformed into an explosion of colours, aromas, magic and joy. Spring is about to begin and the city’s festivities extend their warmest welcome.
From March 1st the smell of gunpowder seizes the city with its “mascletaes”, musical explosions that shake the bones of even the calmest spectators, whilst as of 15th March the city’s streets play host for four intense days to more than 700 satirical monuments .
